Hi people
I have read various websites and OC guides and want to have a try at overclocking my new components I have a 3570k and a gigabyte z77 motherboard.
Am i right in thinking prime 95 blend test for a couple of hours and coretemp for monitoring is still all thats needed?
Im thinking of just putting my multiplier on 40 for a 4ghz clock speed and putting my vcore at 1.2 and trying this?
Do i need to change any of the intel turbo settings or just leave on auto or disable totally?
Regards

That's a decent cooler. That will be fine.

You're basically right.

First download cpu-z. This will show you accurate core clock and voltage info.

Turn all the turbos off and set your multiplier to 40 and voltage to 1.2. That should be more than fine.

Like you say, run prime 95 for a few hours. If it doesn't crash, and the temps font get too high 70+, its stable. Normally if prime does crash, it will in the first 15 minutes or so.

Hope this helps.
