im getting a new graphics card on tuesday,,my budget has gone down so im getting a gtx 960 2gb,,,,at the moment i have the gtx 750 ti,,my question is after i put the new card in do i just delete/uninstall EVERYTHING on my pc that says nvidia? then install the new drivers? do i even have to delete/uninstall gpu tweak?

sorry i know its a noob question lol

thanks

graphic card can work without drivers, you could delete nvidia yes, I used a program called windirstat, shows u where all the files are

ive just read on the net that your supposed to delete the drivers of your old card otherwise they conflict with the drivers of your new card,,is this right?

best thing to do is use DDU.

can download it here

http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

get the latest drivers from the Nvidia website.

run DDU and it will give you a list of options. click on remove drivers and shut down.

this will remove all current drivers from the PC and turn it off so you can then put in your new gpu.

once its in to windows install the new drivers you downloaded earlier

Don't bother with DDU or outside programs, unless you run into problems.

1, download latest NVidia drivers.

2, shut down machine.

3, swap out graphics cards.

4, start up machine.

5, once into windows and windows has finished sorting it self out after it identifies the new card, then run the lastest driver installer doing a clean install.

If this fails to work, should you start looking at outside programs, to help uninstall the old drivers.

As you're sticking with Nvidia, you should be fine without touching the drivers and the currently installed ones should pick up your new card just fine. If it was me, I would go into Control Panel and uninstall the Nvidia drivers, then swap cards and install the latest drivers from the Nvidia website, but that's me being overly cautious.

I would only worry about manually identifying leftover files and/or using DDU if I was moving from Nvidia to AMD (or vice versa).

This. Just unplug the 750Ti and plug in the 960 and you should be golden.

ok thanks people,,,will i need to go to nvidias website still and download the drivers for the 960?
