Hi all

Been looking at a new card, havent had one for a couple of months. Been looking at the fury x, really like the design, cooling but put off by the performance questions people have been asking.

I normally always go for nvidia and im thinking that the 980ti would be the one for me. Would love a titan x, love the design of them. Ive got a massive green theme going on in my rig.

Now with the 980tis I prefer the referance cards over all the others. The msi red one looks a really good card and people have recommended it. But I really couldnt put that red in my machine lol. I have ocd btw haha.

But with the referance cards on the main site they list there core clock and boot clock a lot less than the msi around 200. With boost. Now does this mean the msi would kick out a lot more performance than a ocuk referance card or not.

Cheers all.

Some are pre-overclocked so offer more performance out of the box with zero effort from yourself.
The standard ones are just standard clocks, you can overclock them yourself, but will make more noise than the ones with custom coolers.

The MSI one's are factory overclocked and guaranteed to run at that speed.
As for ref one's being able to overclock to similar or more, it's not a certain.
See under testing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Product_binning

While it's not exactly on topic, it means you're taking a random chance of getting a chip that can OC well, but you're guaranteed the advertised.

They will all overclock to 1400+ and the good ones to 1500+; reference cards will be noisier and run hotter when under load. Notice, that there are other good cards with aftermarket coolers, the red MSI is not your only option.

You could get the Gigabyte G1 and set the logo to light up as green (card is black and white, so should be fine).
It is 100£ more compared to the reference card though!

Yeah I dont think over clocking is going to be something im going to be doing anytime soon being abit of a noob. Just looked at that G1 razorpakk looks a good decent option.

What did you mean by the MSI not being my only option mururo???

I mean that there are several other options with good aftermarket coolers as well: the afm Gigabyte, Zotac Amp and Amp Extreme, KFA2 HoF in dazzling white, Palit Jetstream and Super Jetstream in black and white etc.

Yeah I had a 780ti and a 770 before that and they were pretty noisey. So I cant see myself knowing any different noise wise to be honest.

I would have gone for the msi but I think it looks horrible. I know looks shouldnt come into it, but o well.

Looks are 100% part of it, especially if you have a window in your case. It has to look good, well to me it does anyway. You are spending quite a lot of money at the end of the day :p

The Titan X is the sweetest looking card by a mile in my opinion. Especially if your looking for the green colour code, but my budget wont go near one of them. Looks like the G1 is the best option apart from that.
