My domain has expired and I have the option to renew it with directNIC.

If I renew it, will I get hosting with it aswell, or would I have to buy a seperate hosting package?

Also, I use an email account with the domain, as soon as the domain is active again will the webmail come back active aswell? Would my old emails still be in the inbox?

Cheers

With a lot of hosting packages, you can get the domain free if you take hosting with it. TSOhost for example do this, they've got a code floating around that still works as well, so you get their top standard hosting package (10GB storage, 150GB monthly traffic) for £15, domain included, for a whole year. The voucher code is "OCT-FORUM2-SPECIAL".I used this the other day and it worked fine for me.

If it's expired, then "buying" it again would act in the same way as a renewal, but TSOhost would take over it for you. You could think of it as renewing through a different company.

I think I got my wires crossed a bit. My domain with DirectNIC hasn't actually expired, it's got 90 days left. It's the actual hosting that's expired.

I have no idea how I can get my domain hosted again though? It doesn't look like DirectNIC have hosting packages? Is it possible that I can just buy a seperate hosting pack so the URL will become active again?

As you can probabaly tell I'm not the best with things like this!

EDIT - Would this be the option I need for TSOHost?

This is an existing domain, please transfer it from my current provider

Cheers

In which case, if the domain is still owned by you, you could get the hosting for £15 from TSO host and just transfer your existing domain over, or leave as is and just update your name serves. As you go through the buying process, you get the options to do this kind of thing.

Thanks for the help! What would be an easier process for someone that doesn't have much experience with this?

Transfer it, or just change the nameservers?

Cheers

edit - figured the question out about redirection so moved it from post. :)

I'm ready to get the process started now and I plan on having TSO to transfer it. Do I need to do anything on DirectNICs end or if everything automatic after I've payed?

Cheers

You'll be best sending them an email at [email protected] and they'll be able to tell you exactly what you're best doing and how long it'll take, after that buy the hosting, you could get another domain for free just for the sake of it, in case you want/needed it in future or something.
