Noob Question about dual core 939's

Forgive me, I have been away from hardware for ages.

I have a single core 939 chip running in a DFI NF4 board. Like many people on here I am considering my last 939 upgrade which I hope will take me through to Crysis & SC2 e.t.c.

Can I just stick a dual core 939 in my current board or will I need a dual core mobo to take advantage of the extra core?

I won't give my GF the NF4 rig just yet then
