noob question about software

It's been a while since I've done any 'semi-serious'photography, and I've just replaced my old Canon Eos 300 with a Nikon 5000 and kit lens.

I was just wondering if I should go for photoshop cs5 or lightroom 2 software to tinker with my images - I'm entitled to student discount on Adobe stuff until June, so want to make sure I get the most suitable software suite while I can still get a nice discount.

Thanks.

I'm less concerned with professional library management than with general touch up features if that helps. I wouldn't consider Photoshop at full retail as it's way too expensive, but the student discount makes it affordable for me at the moment (just).

I'm wondering if it's going to be too complicated to use for a beginner like myself, but also whether I'll kick myself for passing up the opportunity to get hold of a copy now while I can.
