I am a complete noob to this,I've been advised to build my own gaming pc so have been looking at this site and others to get ideas,I've been looking at a few graphics cards not wanting to spend more than £250 on one and the amd hd7950 seems to fit the bill,i just wondered
what the difference was between the sapphire 11196-09-40g hd7950 3g vapor -x and the His hd7950 icq boost 3072mb or if any of you experts could tell me a better 7950 to get,i am going to be buying parts over the next few months so this could be the first of many questions lol

The difference is coolers and the clocks they come with.

When you clock them all up, they should all reach certain levels and depending how far they go is dependant on the chip lottery.

The HIS ICE Q boost is favoured by a few. I tend to like PC Parts that have a good name such as EVGA/Gigabyte/MSI. That way if anything goes wrong with the components, it won't take long to get them replaced.

ok so I've gone with your advice and put the gigabyte hd7950 3gb card on my list, here's the rest of my list, will they all go together and will they fit in the case I've chosen or will i need a bigger case-amd piledriver fx-eight core 8350 cpu-asus sabretooth 990fx motherboard-corsair vengeance 8gb ddr3-corsair enthusiast tx850w v2 psu-crucial 128gb m4 ssd-western digital 1tb sata 111 hdd-zalman z9 plus case, any advice would be much appreciated thanks in advance.

If its for gaming your better off going with an Intel i5 spec.

Post in General Hardware and we can help get you the best pc for your money if you want :)

The Z9 is a nice case, not huge on quality but lots of extras, should have measured the room for the GPU before I threw it out thinking about it now....
