Hi my laptop went on the fritz a motherboard issue.

I wanted to use the old SSD laptop drive, Samsung, in a PC for a colleagues son.

I took the SSD out the old laptop - no reason to think it is faulty.

I plugged it in my Sharkoon hard drive dock and I can't see it - it doesn't read and pop up?

Plugged an old disk drive and that reads ok.

Can't see the SSD in disc manager...

Pro advice welcome? Is the SSD faulty? Does it need formating? Explain like I am 10?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi no I have not tried, it is plugged into a dock- plugged into my new laptop - and the laptop cant detect it - I will have a look by booting the lappy into bios. Thanks

Can you test it in other PC/directly connected to mobo?
There's chance for some compatibility problem with dock's controller/bridge chip and drive.

Though it's possible that laptop's motherboard dying damaged it.

Yes, I think it is DSQ'd.
Thanks for the advice.
