noob question , cooler reuse

Hi, can I reuse a cooler from a Q6600 for a I3 or 5?

That lools like the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 which is fastened with these white plastic plugs covered by a black plastic thing holding the inner piece in place.

Does anyone know if that one fits on a new Gigabyte Z97 mobo?
