Noob question - lga775 cpu...

I'm currently running an Intel Pentium 4 LGA775 Prescott" 3.0GHz with HT Technology, and my question is very simple. Is it a 64-bit? Or does it support the 64-bit programs?

My main confusion is coming here -> Intel® Extended Memory 64 Technology
and not really knowing what this would allow me to do. I've been treating it like a non-64 cpu since i've had it. But after reading the description a bit more, i'm beginning to wonder.

Basically, can i run windows 64bit with it?

Is it the 600 series? If it is then it is 64-bit enabled. Or you could run CPU-Z and look for the extension EMT-64. Then you can run windows 64bit.

I think it is the 600 series, but having bought it just over a year ago, i couldn't really be sure.

A little more instruction on running the cpu-z would be appreciated

Extended memory 64 technology = EMT64 = 64 bit processor

But, unless you really need it stick with 32 bit XP because 64 bit still lacks drivers etc.

Fire up cpu-z and let us know if its the 530 or the 630, if its the 6x it's 64bit.

Bah, tis a 530 Grmble grumble...

I thought i would have been too lucky to have the 630! Might have to think about changing over then, maybe. I currently run my computer for 3d graphics, computer animation, that kinda lark...

If your thinking of changing, either sell both board and cpu, and get a Cedar mill or a presler, with a p5p800se.

Or look into another route, that however is by far the cheapest + a pretty good upgrade.

the 530j's overclocked pretty good - are you running stock?

If you could post the rest of your system specs it would help a lot.
