Ive installed a Hauppauge hvr1300 in my HTPC and have recorded a film using Media Centre. As it said I hadnt got a software mpeg2 decoder installed I assume that the hardware mpeg2 decoder on the card was not being used as I was not using the wintv software.
After installing my copy of Theatertek I was able to watch the film on media centre. My question is whether there is any difference in quality between the software decoder used in media centre or the hardware decoder if I used wintv.
