Noob Question (Sorry!)

In the first image, I'd try upping the FSB frequency from 400 to 533 MHz.

It could be that this setting is stopping the increased RAM MHz from taking effect.

Will that not simply overclock the CPU though?

Yes it would - it'd put it up just over 4.2GHz... maybe a tad high for a Q6600? lol!

If your board has OC profiles then I'd be tempted to save your current setup as a named profile then default your BIOS and start over with just getting the RAM to read correctly, then redo your CPU OC etc and see how that goes. Other than that you might just be stuck with it running as it is at the mo - tbh you probably won't notice any difference in speed anyway, it'll just mean your CPU OC'ability will be capped slightly by the slower RAM.

I have attached screenshots of my bios settings, and a cpuz readout. You can see I have changed the voltage to 2.2v and the speed to 1066 in the bios, however cpuz still only reads 1.8v? It must be something really simple - surely?

From looking at those bios screenshots your memory seems to be running fine, in cpuz you should be looking at the memory tab as this will show what your ram is running at, the spd is just a display of manufacturers settings for the ram, the memory tab will actually show what you have set in the bios.

Edit: a pic of my ocz 1066 ram settings.

I know what you're saying but at least on your SPD tab it's showing the fourth column filled with the 533MHz settings. The OP's doesn't even show them which is making me wonder if that RAM is any good (or even the right stuff!)

mossmotorsport can you post your CPU-Z Memory tab as setter has suggested?

Thanks haha - ive spent ages messing around with the settings! Never mind, need to do some cable management and then i'll be happy. Gotta love the new setup though, its nice and fast :D

Just had a look at the SPD settings in CPU-Z for my Corsair Dominator 2x2GB 1066MHz RAM.

It says the Max Bandwidth is only PC2-6400 as this is the highest the JEDEC standard goes up to. If you do a RAM benchmark, you'll see the bandwidth is actually 8500. :)

Enjoy your RAMs :D
