noob question svchost

What exactly is this?

I've always wondered and never wanted to end the task in task manager, but it always seems to be using 200+meg of memory, should one svchost really use that much?

Use Process Explorer to see what is running under svchost that's using all the memory.

This. Task Manager is useless for troubleshooting.

or typing this in a command prompt will let you know as well.

tasklist /SVC

which os you using? I know under XP it shouldn't using that much memory mine under XP totals 23mb.
