Hey, I have a Corsair H50 CPU Cooler on my new desktop, it has an easily accessible switch a long wire with a small switch on it, so im wondering , should i have the cooler on all the time ? or just when im playing games?

Thanks for help

Hi there,

Is the switch coming from the H50 cooler or somewhere else on your desktop?

There should be only one wire coming from the pump (the large cycliner type part which bolts onto the CPU socket) this wire should be connected directly to the PSU (or an uncontrolled fan header on the motherboard) since it provides power to the pump - which must always receive a 12V supply. There is also a wire connected to the fan on the radiator, this should be connected to the CPU_fan header on the motherboard and the motherboard will vary its speed dependent on how hot the CPU gets.

Im not rly sure it seems to trail into a fan on the top , i think its the pump on the motherboard it has 2 speeds on the switch the 2nd one is noisy , any ideas?

Thats the switch for the ANTEC300 in your build, its the cases fan controller on the back?

nop there is a fan on the top says antec 3 - there is a fan on the back but thats from the cooler and another one at the bottom for the power supply

Ah right.

got it.

The case normally has a top fan with speed controller.

and a rear fan with speed controller.

your rear fan has been dumped for the H50 cooler by OCUk when it was built.

so that leaves the top fans speed controller.

have it how you want:)

Perhaps a photo would allow us resolve this quickly, but if you have an Antec case then this sounds very much like the fan controller on an antec tricool fan and nothing to do with the Corsair H50 cooler. Also, please make sure you don't use a tricool fan on the H50's radiator, the included fan is much better and can be controlled by the motherboard.

Does the switch look like this?

Edit: sounds like you have sorted it out

P.S

if OCUK took the rear fan off, to fit the H50 and its fan.

did they put what was the rear fan, at the front of the case, which doesnt have one supplied out of the box?
