I'm a little confused and I've read the top thread regarding a license before you point me there.

I'm over 24 and I have had my driving license for nearly 10 years.
I'm looking to learn how to ride and ideally I don't want a pathetic scooter. I've read that if you are aged over 24 you can get a license that is unrestricted.

My questions are:
Does this mean you just need a CBT?
Does this mean you need a CBT and to pass the riding and theory exam?
Does it mean that if I get a CBT and pass the simple exam that I can ride a bike with over 50bhp?

Sorry if these have been asked before and that they are very noobish. Always liked bikes but stuck to 4 wheels. Please don't slaughter me.

Yes you need to a CBT, no matter what.
This limits you to a 125cc scooter/bike.

As you're over 24 you then do the DAS which allows you an unrestricted license.
Theory exam is required.
DAS compromises a MOD 1 test which is on private ground, slow speed manoeuvres around cones and finally a MOD 2 test which is an hour's ride on the road.

So if I do a DAS then it covers both MODs?

And thanks for the help. With a car it's just one test and you can drive whatever. I think cars should be like this. Limit people until they are mature enough.

Limit people until they are mature enough.

Age has nothing to do with driving abilities, I can see some people who have been driving for 20+ years and they're still bad drivers even at a older age. Than, I look at some 12-13 year old who is competing in drift championship alongside with adults that have more experience... Same goes for the maturity, older doesn't mean cleverer/maturer.

Pretty much.
You still need to sit the Theory Test separately, but a full DAS course is usually CBT, plus all the subsequent Mods, plus the full licence Test. Your choice over whether you do it in bits, or all in one week.

Either way, the Theory plus DAS should be everything you need to go hop on a Rocket III or a Fireblade, Hayabusa, Blackbird, MTT Turbine, CG125 or anything in between.

Well, everything licence-wise... You still need to buy and insure the bike, of course!

True, but I guess they have to go on the statistics and assume that the younger are more likely to crash.

Also, being able to drift and compete is quite different to driving in the way the government wants you to :p
