Noob questions - should I use my IGP?

Hi Guys,

I have been using the FAH GPU Tracker V2 for the last couple of weeks on and off (mainly when it gets cold in my room). But I have only been using my CPU to crunch.

I don't have a graphics card because I'm not really a gamer but I do have an IGP in my mobo. It is an ATI Radeon HD 4200.

Is there anyway of using that for folding? Or am I in danger of overheating it? It just has the standard passive heatsink on it...

Folding on any ati card or igp does not give good performance:(

A boinc project like Collatz conjecture or Moo! wrapper might work ok, worth a try we have teams for both:)

Interesting. Is it just to do with how the software is set up or is it down to the type of calculations that are required for folding?

Thanks. I'll have a look at those. I think I do have a really old ATI card somewhere that I could dig out. Might be slightly better than the IGP... :o

Probably both. The ATI cards are harder to program for due to the way the GPU works and, as Stanford is sponsored by Nvidia, they don't seem to put as much effort into ATI.
