I have an asus a8n sli deluxe mobo and need to replace the nforce chip cooling fan which has failed.
I'm just wondering if the cooler can be removed without taking the motherboard out. It's secured by spring loaded plastic pushpins which locate in holes on the mobo.
I'm not sure how these pins work, can someone advise me as I dont want to be too forceful in case I cause some damage.
cheers, Dave

You will need to remove the motherboard I'm afraid as those pins need to be pushed thru from the back of the motherboard by pinching the ends together.

or u simply break them off like i did :)
"rough b*****d" your probably thinking, nah snip them with some good sharp snips and the plastic bits underneath just fall out.
put one of those blue orb thermaltake thingys on... solid copper and totally silent, watch the size though, it's hard up against my huge Accelero S1!!
