Noob requires website help

Hello,

I have just joined an EVE Online corp and we have decided to create a website in order to give new recruits somewhere to check us out.

However, my HTML/CSS knowledge is extremely rusty.

I decided to sketch out the general design ideas, what I wanted and were to put them etc. I figured this would be the best place to start with coding as well. I have created several divs to hold everything but I am having some trouble at the moment.

The website is: http://darknessinc.890m.com EDIT: Currently doesn't show well at all in IE.

Just a free web setup for now. The actually website will be very plain with a completely black background, the reason for the horrid colours at the moment is to make it easier for me to see what each div is doing.

The header and footer have set heights, the main, links and contents div should have auto heights, adjusting for the amount of info in links or contents.

I need the footer div to sit below the links and contents div and for the main div to stretch all the way down to below the footer div.

I am sure one of you boffins will be able to sort it in a flash but I have spent ages trying different things unsuccesfully!

If you set the footer div to clear:both that should help. Check out the source of the link above. The css will also be in there.

I was just reading about 'clear' but was totally uncertain to what it actually did.

I think its time to go back to basics and start learning all over again.
