I currently use a 19 inch Sony flat screen CRT for gaming at 16x12 on a X1950. I'm very tempted by a nice 19 inch widescreen from OCUK for about £130.

Does this mean I'll lose all access to 16x12 resolutions and everything will look less defined as a result, due to the lower resolution?

And does anyone know which is best for games? I play mostly FPS and RPGs and still have concerns about ghosting and tearing.

I have searched all the monitor pages and read reviews of the Belinea and OCUK ones but I just want to know from someone that has one before I commit.

Thanks.

Hi khimbar,

The 19" wide's are quite small in relation to even a 19"crt (which actually has a viewable size of around 17")

The res of a 19" wide as you know is 1440x900 and as you can imagine it's a little compressed! My gf has the 19" wide belinea and compared to my belinea 22" with a resolution of 1680x1050 the icons look quite a bit larger! Not to mention the physical size difference is suprisingly huge!

If you can push to a 22" (belinea, iiyama, acer, V7's, etc... are actually generally cheaper than 20" versions which is nice) then it would be worth it and you'd lose no resolution!

Ghosting and tearing are not an issue on either the 19" or 22" belinea's i've got at home! You'd be happy with either! Just make sure you're happy with the restricted desktop space with the 19" - width isn't the problem but height can be! Viewing some websites such as forums like this can end up being constant scrolly fun! ;)

Incidentally i went from a 19" Dell P991 CRT (trinitron flat) to the belinea and have never ever ever regretted it! :D
