I feel quite embarassed asking this so feel free to post 'noobage' at me but only after you have answered the question. :)

I am in the process of installing Vista Beta 64bit because I am bored. Anyway, when and if I get it running, after a, no doubt, long and fruitless search for drivers, what do I do. Will any of my current software run on Vista orcan I just play with the OS at this stage?

:o

A lot of things work in my experience, I've not played with the 64bit version personally but it all depends what you want to do.

It's not stable enough, or finished enough to run mission criticle stuff, but IMO it's fine to browse the internet whilst having a play around with it.

I've been told that one of the recent builds (5472) is very slow, but I've an older build on my media PC (5456 I think) and it's ok to use, media centre is also useable if a little buggy in places.

I found that X64 version of Vista was actually quite ok. Graphics drivers where quite slow in comparison to XP pro/x64 but I could still run games such as oblivion at reasonable speeds. But yes drivers are going to be a nightmare.

I got it up and running and managed to find most of the drivers. However, it seems to identify some hardware that doesn't even exist or should I say, wrongly identifies some of my hardware.

It is unusable at the moment, quite frankly. I don't think I will be rushing to buy the finished product. I don't really see an advantage with the features I have explored on this install.
