Hi All.

Current set up;

1 Netgear ADSL modem (wireless) conected to a fileserver and my main rig via cables (2 spare network ports).

Use the wireless for my lappy.

I have a dedicated machine for itunes and occasionally video streaming at the opposite end of the house. Wireless doesn't reach this due to poor location/interference I guess. No matter what I do I can't get it to connect wirelessly while being reliable.

Am I correct in thinking all I need is 2 Netgear XE104 Powerline Ethernet Switch (for example) and that should allow all 4 machines to talk to each other quite happily?

Is this technology reliable? The house is about 40 years old with original wiring. Am I likely to get any problems? Most of the wires are in metal conduits. Will that cause a problem (pre fabricated concrete ex council house...!)

What is the difference between the switch and the powerline? Is there any advantage over having a switch installed?

Thanks for the advice so far guys. It's appreciated :)

One more question please!

Should I need to connect another PC into another room, would I need an extra one powerline or 2? i.e, one connected to the router, the other 2 connected to idividual machines in seperate rooms?
