hey guys, finally got my arctic cooler on my cpu so i thought i'd get back to some folding, i've done folding before but only on a PM G5

i've currently got the GUI version running on my cpu and the GPUv2 running on my geforce 9800GT
is the GPUv2 the best client for this card, i saw the link for the v3 and it said something about fermi and such
oh *edit, i've got my ps3 folding for OcUK too, not sure what thats worth but i barely use it for gaming anymore so it's usually on 24/7 anyways

do these screens look right or is there more i can do to improve temps, speeds?

Whats the CPU clocked to and how much time is the rig on per day as you will more than likely be better running the SMP client rather than the uniprocessor client

1. Uninstall the GUI version
2. Create a folder on your hdd say c:\fah\cpu
3. Download the SMP version from here
4. Open a dos box and cd to the c:\fah\cpu folder and run:
[email protected] -smp -configonly
5. Fill in all the questions correctly.
6. Only fill in the Advanced section if you want to run it as a service, best not to start with.
6. When you have finished, stay in the directory and type:
[email protected] -smp -advmethods -verbosity 9
7. Throw away Fahmon its out of date and doesn't calculate PPD properly anymore
8. Download HFM.NET or FahSpy and use instead.

That should do to get you going :)

oh processor is core 2 duo E7500 @ 2.93Ghz, i've tried overclocking it but either my little power supply dont like it or my mobo is totally trash
the computer is pretty much always on, apart from if i'm upgrading or playing some video games, ( i'm in a team for NFSW so, it's not that often )
ok done all that lol got i hate the command prompt haha is there a command line thingy for running the GPU or should i just use what i downloaded from F@H?

The systray client for GPUs is fine, if you have download HFM.net or fahspy to replace fahmon you should see an increase in PPD on the SMP (CPU) client

yeah i downloaded Fahspy, seems a bit weird but my gpu has been crunching for about 3 hours, it's 67% in and fahspy is reporting, no workload data 0 credits
but it's reporting everything fine for the cpu crunching

yeah i have now, hmmmm, getting confused fast lol, afterburner says my fan is running at 57%, to give a max load temp of 78c i clicked the user defined button on the right and slid the slider upto 80%, my fan sped up for like a second, then went back down to 57% again, i haven't touched the clock shader or memory settings because my PSU is only a corsair CX400

I'd use HFM personally. Never got on with FahSpy.

Make sure if you are using the SMP client for CPU that you get a passkey for the bonus points, info here: http://folding.stanford.edu/English/FAQ-passkey

As for Afterburner and fan speed, click the Auto button, then move the slider and press apply.

I'd use command line clients for everything, get this one for your card: http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/folding/release/Folding@home-Win32-GPU_Vista-623.zip (Assuming you are using W7 or Vista).

Click the auto button for a preset profile, click apply, shouldn't need to move slider: that should match fan speed to temp i.e. 60c = 60%

No if you unselect auto, it uses the slider. Auto is for the default fan profile or you use User defined for the custom fan curve profile in the options.

Personally I just use the slider, use overclocked settings and set it to profile 1. Then reset it when I'm not folding.
