Hi all,

I'm looking for a new build to play games such as World Of Warcraft (CPU Intensive), Overwatch, BF4 and CSG:GO. I'm not looking for maximum quality, but as close as I can get for my budget. My budget is in the range of £600-750 - HOWEVER, I am travelling to the states very soon, and might be able to find some good deals there if I get the parts together.

I already have a 600W PSU, 16GB RAM and a R9 390 8GB edition. My current motherboard and CPU are Z86AP-D3 and an I5 2500k 3.3GHZ OCed to 4.2GHZ.

I'm looking for a new motherboard, CPU, Case, Cooler and SSD and anything else you think I'm missing. I've been having problems with my machine so I'm just going to upgrade while I have the money.

Thanks guys, I look forward to the responses. Please can you spec me something up that will last me around 2-3 years.

Fair enough, If I was upgrading myself I don't think the jump from 2500k to 6600k would be that great in terms of price to performance, I think the 6700k would be a more noticeable leap if you want to upgrade the core of your system.

Maybe reduce the overclock or download memtest for the blue screens. If that persists after then yeah think of an upgrade.
That said I'm running exactly the same board and chip but without the oc and still run BO3 fine.

Thanks for the help. I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to stuff like this, so I take it the 6700k is an I5, too? Is there any in particular? Also worth mentioning I use Sony Vegas and photoshop quite frequently as a part time job on the side, so rendering times seeing an increase in speed would be ideal. Also what motherboard would be compatible? Cooling is a big thing, too, right?! Sorry for silly questions.

Thanks CSMonkeh. It was originally 4.4 GHZ, but I toned it down to 4.2 because of restarts, it's been nearly a year and things are starting to go "blue" again. Like I said though, my little bro is going to invest my current computer so an upgrade would benefit us both.

Thanks for the help, bro.

I was going to go with a i7 6700k. But since you also said you do some editing too. This will help with rendering times. Although a little over budget, and the case isnt the most amazing around but of course thats up to you.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £782.12
(includes shipping: £12.30)

With this setup (mine):

I7-2600 3.4ghz CPU
Corsair Vengeance Pro Red 16GB @ 2166mhz
MSI R9 290 4gb Gaming edition 977mhz core clock - 1250mhz memory clock
ASRock Fatal1ty-M professional Z77
SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W

I get:

Doom - Ultra presets @ 2560x1440
70-100fps

Overwatch - Ultra presets @ 2560x1440
60-90fps

World of warcraft - Ultra presets @ 2560x1440
70-120fps

BF4 - Ultra presets @ 2560x1440
55-70fps

CS:GO - Ultra presets @ 2560x1440
150+fps

I'd say your system is newer than mine and running higher specs, there seems to be an issue with it. and for what you need, you most definitely dont need an upgrade.

Thank you so much for the recommendations, guys. I really appreciate it.

I do understand that I don't NEED an upgrade, but as my brother gets older he wants to play more PC games. Having him invest in my already half decent computer is a good enough reason for me to rebuild my own, as he won't have to spend any money.

It's a bad time to be buying new now as the prices are ridiculous and tech has not improved in last 5 years time.

6600k won't be much quicker than what you've got. If you spend a lot of time editing and encoding then 6700k is an option but you're looking at spending more than £600 on that.

I'd get a 2700k 2nd hand if anything or just get a 2nd hand 3770k or 4770k bundle. Will cost less than half of skylake and there is virtually no difference.
