Ok, there are many things to learn at once with this "game"

This time, I am going to ask about cropping,

firstly How do you crop and still have a picture that is a "standard" photograph size

Also I see people talk about 100% crop and 3:2 crop

can anybody explain this, or link a site that explains it please

also

sometimes, with some software, if you crop a pic, the cropped image gets bigger, with some, the image stays the same, but the overal size of the frame gets smaller to match, if that makes sense, is that an option of just a way to view it?

What software are you using?

Using the PS CS2 crop tool you can set the ratio to whatever you like, in the top left hand corner is two boxes to put numbers in. For photos set it at 7:5. Or you can just hold the shift key when resizing the tool using a corner tab.

Wouldnt that make it square?

When people talk about 100% crop, it just means they've zoomed in to 100% and cropped a pic out of that. So you're seeing the 'real' quality of the lens/camera/whatever.

Good point, I was thinking of free transform for that. Having said that it keeps the crop aspect ratio the same, so if you set the crop tool up by encompasing the whole picture first it will work like I said. :o
