are all the modular psu outputs the same brand to brand? I'm working under the assumption that they are just the opposite sex connectors on the PSU and the leads are effectively extension cables?

Only asking as I intend to make my own cables as I'm tight on space (itx build) and dont want to get stuck with something weird :)

I intend to get the following PSU (mostly because of EVGA's rather good service on these forums of late)

YOUR BASKET
1 x EVGA Supernova GS 650W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply £76.99
Total : £86.59 (includes shipping : £8.00 Ex.VAT).

i have just bought this psu (well the G2 version) and love it to bits. Sadly pin configurations can vary not only from manufacturer to manufacturer but also model to model....
You can always get a pin removal tool / paperclip and mod the cables that way using the existing plugs. Just remember to lable the wires!

They don't work like that. The pinouts as said above are different from manufacturer to manufacturer

You could get them custom made by someone like PexonPCs or just look them up for yourself and find the pinouts, but be very careful

Hmm that's disappointing! Would have bought there was a 'standard' :/

I'm opting for that psu as its quite a short body so a little extra room in the case

There is no standard because they are all from different oem's. The GS is made for EVGA by Seasonic, the G2 is made by Superflower for EVGA, The G1 is made by FSP while the budget ones are made by HEC. It's the same for other brands as well apart from the likes of Superflower and Seasonic who make their own but I expect the pinouts will still be different from model to model.
