Normal amount of IPS bleed/glow?

It's extremely difficult to say via those photos, but purely going on what I can see I'd say that's pretty bad . I own 2 ips monitors and had a mare trying to get good ones, especially ultrawide. I'd at least try again.

How many monitors did you have to go through? it's the acer af270hua.

I disagree it looks rather good considering the current quality. I've seen a lot worse. When you mean "at night" do you game with no lights on ? I can see this may show up more with no lights on. My bottom left corner shows up on camera more or less like yours yet at night I cant see it even when watching a film and I have a bedside light on.

No I tend to game at night with lights on. I noticed the yellow tint while playing metro and then turned the lights off to show you guys what was happening. There's is a small bleed on the right hand side of the screen but it's very very minimal.

During the day you can't see any bleed or glow at all.

Ok So since the sun has gone down I've taken a second picture with calibrated settings (monitor actually looks better now) and with the lights on.

So in the picture it does exaggerate the glow but in reality the bottom right seems to have the standard IPS silver glow and isn't noticeable unless in dark areas at night, the other 3 corners have little to 0 glow at all even when sat right in front of the screen. I got the xf270hua for £395, and from what I've described and the pictures I've shown do you think there's a better chance I'll get a worse monitor than this, compared to better? Seems when it comes to IPS i might have to RMA 10+ times to get a "perfect" one, especially at this price range or even at the £650 range (asus pg27).

0 dead, stuck or bright pixels. Also I pulled the bezel where the bleed was and it's pretty much got rid of it, I legit have to get right up to the screen to see it.

Thats ok if you live near a shop or online seller that has the model you want but thats usually not possible for most people its a buy and hope job, it shouldnt be like this but it is and it will never change unless people vote with their wallets. Which we know wont happen.

From experience you could definitely get a worse one. Read some of the old threads on here and you will see people swapping 5,6,7 times and getting mixed bag each time.

hmm, to RMA this monitor I have to send it back since I didn't get from amazon. it does seem from looking at other peoples IPS monitors mine lands on the better side as I only have 1 corner with noticeable glow at night in dark scenes. Kind of worried that I send this back in the hope of getting 0 glow in all corners I may end up getting a worse monitor and have to RMA 5,6,7 times in the hopes of getting the perfect IPS panel :/.

I quite fancy a 32" screen especially with gsync compatible screens becoming more evident if I can find the space but it just puts me off with the panel lottery.

Well coming from a 1080p 240hz monitor this acer xf27 is stunning in terms of colours and the response time is pretty good too. Only draw back for me is the glow in one corner as my monitor has 0 dead + stuck pixels and has no backlight bleed anymore but I'm assuming over time I'll just become accustomed to it. From reading online it seems I'm quite lucky to only have that 1 flaw and it's my first every IPS monitor.

Personally I won't go over 27" until I move to 4k in 3+ years. Free sync/g sync compatible is good but there is that opportunity for tearing when the monitor switches to LFC under the standard free sync range. As much as I hate to say it G sync still has a pretty nice over over free Sync + LFC

Personally I've never had an issue with acer and their products. My mate has the 4k asus 144hz HDR monitor and it's great, although they're releasing a refresh of that monitor very soon. Personally the amount of GPU horsepower he needs to power that monitor is ridiculous and not worth it atm.

With my living room light on its i grey/silver glow at the bottom right (at night time only when the monitor is displaying a dark scene). I'm more concerned that if I return this I'll get a worse one then have to RMA multiple times just to get one at the same level as the one I currently own.

I'll take 2 videos tomorrow night showing the monitor with light on and off and let you guys share further opinions.

Just wondering, how many IPS xf270hua monitors would I have to go through to get a near perfect IPS monitor? 5-10?

Just took some pictures on 100% and 21% brightness.

I'm not sure what it is but yeah the bottom right has a yellow ips glow that's kinda intrusive :/. I may try to return/RMA. if the bottom right corner was like the rest I'd be 100% happy.

Here's some pictures taken at night with lights on. PS ignore the yellow reflection of the left of my monitor that's just a reflection of my wall.
