Howdy, now this will probably be pointless - but im going to check anyway

System spec is the following

C2D E6600 - Stock
BFG 8800GTS 640mb OC - slightly overclocked
2gb GeiL Value DDR2 ram
Gigabyte DS3 mobo

Cant give any more accurate specs than those right now, mind is blank and im at work.

Thismorning before i set off i downloaded 3dmark2001 (Yes, it was 30mb and a fast test), i'll try 3dmark06 tonight and see what happens

But.. i only got 31k, which seems low? :o

I get just over 30k with my CPU clocked at 2.66Ghz and my old 1Gb OCZ plat. RAM at 221Mhz 2-2-2-5 1T.

Think it's your RAM that's holding the score down.

well no point of 3dmark01 on these cards, u need to test it with 05/06 really

Yeah i wouldnt bother with 01 either, you should be hitting well over 40k in 01, i got over 40k with an x1800 XT 512mb all at stock with my E6600 which was stock to.

I think theres a problem with 01, not sure if it recognises newer cards or something, as i remember a while ago when i had an A64 3500+ i only got about 23k or summit in 01 with the same x1800, yet my card before an x800 XT PE, got about 28k odd or summit in it, i can't remember if theres a patch for 01 that sorts it, as i vaguely remember downloading it again for a laugh to see what my E6600 and x1800 would get (im sure i downloaded a patch as well for it), and as said it was over £40k, a GTS would probably hit over 50k in it come think of it.

Certainly sounds like a plan, i'll give it a go when i get home - i was just a little concerned thats all, no reason to be i suppose :)

Figured it could have been a misunderstanding between a 6 year old program, Dx10 graphics card and windows vista - not the best of combinations really eh?

3dmark06 it is, i'll post results later!

Fingers Crossed :)

Not as if i was thinking there was a serious problem anyway, it managed to run 3 windows of WoW at max FPS and max settings without slowdown, which was quite impressive

Yet to try anything really taxing like oblivion on 1600x1200 and max :D

3DMark 2001 should be renamed 'Ram Latency Benchmark'

The higher you clock the FSB, and memory, and the lower the CAS timings etc, the better the performance.

Im sure you could get 30k+ score in 3DMark2001 with a 10 year old graphics card if the rest of the system is really fast.. Well ok perhaps not, but you get my point.

My old P4 used to get silly fast 2001 scores with 266mhz FSB, and DDR running 2-2-2-6 timings :) (Yeah I had some silly fast ram sticks, pitty they were only 256meg each). Never even tried 2001 on my Core2 Duo though.
