Normal sized hatchback with a large boot

Afternoon,

I play bass guitar and often have to transport gear. I'm finding my Volvo S40's boot a little too narrow to fit the case in the boot (126 cm long), so I'm wondering if there any non-estate cars that have abnormally large boots that I could consider?

I'm thinking old cars here, by the way - less than £2,500.

Failing the above, I'll probably get a BMW 320D Touring, but I want to know what normal sized cars are available first!

Cheers,

Thanks for the replies. Might have a look at the Octavia...the other cars don’t massively appeal to me! But the Octavia really looks like it’s the same as the Volvo.

I do put my seats down at the moment, but I want to be able to leave my car without it being obvious that it’s got gear in it.

An Octavia has a much bigger/ more usable boot than anything else that's close to golf size including the A4 or 3 series.

Mondeo as above is a bit bigger again and there are also plenty about to choose from

The Mondeo is just such a monster of a car, though maybe I’m being stupid considering an estate isn’t going to be any smaller.

I’ll definitely look at the Octavia. Reliable too, so that’s good.

Just give in to it and get an estate, the squarer profile at the back really helps when putting cabs in the back. You don't even need that big of an estate to fit a pair of 4x10 cabs in in my experience.

Also estates will have a flat load bed rather than having to drop stuff in to a hatch back which again makes it way easier when loading stuff in and out, what size cabs are you taking around?

It's nice to have something with (nice and dark) factory tints in all the rear windows when your carrying around nice stuff as unless press your face right up against the glass you can't really see what's there.

I have a 2x10 Fender Rumble, so the cabs aren't actually the issue. It's more that the case the bass is in means that it doesn't fit in the boot. I'm starting to think maybe I should get a different case instead of a new car! (don't think that'll make a huge difference though).

I think it may also benefit me to get tints done. I just want security really. I don't want to have to worry about whether someone is going to see my bass and nick it...and even that is more sentimental than due to value.
