This probably has a real easy answer but im upgrading my PC and the graphics card ive picked out has a HDMI port so does my monitor so i was wondering whats HDMI like when stacked up next to VGA?

P.S. I'll be using my PC for mainly gaming, movies and the like.

in theory hdmi should give you a better quality image, but in practise its all dependant on the drivers, the cable and the screen it self. Give both a try and see which you prefere

HDMI is a digital interface so yes in theory, it should offer better image quality and less interference. If your monitor has speakers then it will also carry the sound through if you enable it which would also make some things easier.

Usually you will find modern displays have really poor VGA inputs which produce a fuzzy image. The thing about the digital is even with cheaper cables/design you will still get a clear display that is much more resistant to environmental noise.

As far as I know with an LCD screen, when you use a VGA input it has to be converted back from analogue to digital again when it goes into the screen, so you lose quality and introduce lag. This is second hand info from a mate when I asked why my 360 looked so poor on a vga lead compared to hdmi on the same screen, but he usually knows what he's on about.

VGA will be comparable with a high quality analogue circuit in the monitor and a semi decent cable. Monitors these days have cheap analogue circuits that amplify the effect.
