That's exactly his point. Mine starts working at 2.5k as well, and below that it has all the pulling power of a 1.0 Litre Micra, at ~2.5k it's like a switch being flipped. Turbos don't have smooth torque characteristics.

I've voted FI but i'm not 100% sure, main issue i have with a Turbocharged car is the initial lag then the thing running out of steam at higher RPM.
I did love the noise and linear power delivery of my Supercharger setup but getting more out of a supercharger is harder than a turbo setup (pound for pound).
Big engined cars are also fun (provided its the correct engine), i'd take something like an M3 CSL engined car over most if not all FI lumps.

Thats what I love about my S2000 (Even more so with decat and single exhaust). Throttle response is awesome
Not all turbocharged engines are like this, mine pulls hard all the way to the limiter. Rev1/2 MR2 and Rover Ti's in standard form really start gasping for breath long before then though.

Suppose it depends on the size of the turbo and how its mapped, i've only got a K04 wheezebox unit as reference.

No because it's not large capacity untill over 5 Lt.
3 Lt is just a starter motor for a large capcity engine.
I say N/A everyday of the week. Having been playing in a One-77 most of yesterday, a well tuned BIG capacity V12 is the dog's dangly bits, and nothing FI has ever even come close to making me grin so much.

I think you mean variable vane rather than twin scroll if your turbo adjust its blades. It may be a variable geometry twin scroll unit.

Forced induction for me. Once you experience the power it gives out of a tuned engine it's hard to want anything else in a performance car.
I know N/A engines can produce the same power, but they always come at the cost of size/weight.

Yours is the downsized saloon type install rather than the large engine performance car variant. VAG seem to do the too small turbo thing quite well looking at the torque curves.

To be fair twin scroll is pretty much needed on a V6 single turbo for a hope to get the thing spooling well anyway. I doubt the VXR Vectra has any sort of variable vanes, its a VX and petrol so that rules it out.
A little bit
in some ways as we were rev limited to 4500, the redline was marked at 7750 but it will go to in excess of 8000rpm the engineer told us. Also we were speed limited to less than 200kph, so could not really have any fun. but massive grin factor nonetheless, if only for the noise the thing produces, I must admit to a little wet patch forming at one point....

This is true but once you push them past factory standard specs them seem to give up at higher RPM, could be revo but thats how my K03's felt, K04 not so bad but i need a proper remap for it!
We needed to see it and measure it up for the crash testing programme it will under go soon to meet safety regs, after we had done that a few of us managed to blag a quick blast round the tracks.
