Hi all,

Basically my pc (Opteron 170, Abit Av8, 1Gb Geil One, 6800 Ultra) has been stable for months now and no hardware has been changed recently.

However starting about 10 days ago the screen will flicker on and off in windows use, normally just one flash then it will not happen again for a while, however the length of time inbetween flashes is getting shorter.

Also in games like cs and nfs carbon the system has started to blue screen after a random amount of playing time.

I really have no idea what is causing this. If anyone could offer any suggestions I would be grateful.

Cheers

P.s. here is a copy of the latest blue screen...

Thanks in advance.

I got that too. random bluescreens
RMA'd my Enermax Liberty 500W PSU
Got a brand new one back.
Everything's A-OK now.

Check and see if your +12v is above 12V and see whether your Vcore is stable or fluctuates.

Thanks for the reply, I did wonder about the PSU but didnt really know how to diagnose it.

How would I go about doing this?

Looks like I may *touch wood* have sorted it.

I was thinking that it was probably a power issue, then I realised that this started happening about the same time as I moved my pc to a different location on my desk about 10 days ago.

Where the tower ued to be plugged in to its own wall socket its not on a 6 plug extenstion with a load of other things, Ive put it back on its own socket and so far so good.

Could this have been the source of my problem or am I being stupid?

might have been more to do with noise on the power line coming from other devices plugged into the 6way?

Im guessing thats what happened yer.

Oh well, seems to be problem solved.

:D

I got a screen very similar to that and RAM turned out to be the problem.

Seems you've fixed it now though, but if it does turn up again test your RAM mate.

Dammit its back again!!! This is the side to computers that I hate :( but hey its a challenge :p

i get that error when theres not enough voltage for my cpu overclock

My cpu is at stock, but I suppose it could still apply.

What tests would you reccomend running?

Well I ran that test over and over again and it didnt throw anything up.

I suspect its power related as that would be the most obvious one with regards to the screen flickering one and off every now and again.

How can I check the voltages that my power supply is putting out?

Cheers
