north american home beta pics

whilst I can see how it could be interesting, is it really just appealing to hardcore sector of people who want to live in their PS3's ?

LIke from what ive seen so far it looks like you can go and watch movies in the virtual cinema, is that just a novel way of downloading a movie or do you actually as the player see the edges of the cinema. Seems a bit odd to me, if your gonna pay for a movie wouldnt you go watch it at the cinema itself ?

This looks impressive.

Hopefully if it's done correctly I'll never have to move off my couch ever again. Now all I need some sort of machine to pump nutrients into my blood.

So far, I don't get this.

I still fail to see how this can match some aspects of LIVE, specifically, the accessibility to voice chat, the ability to invite friends ingame to the current session, and some more niggles.

Not to mention that for an official Sony piece of work, an extension of the format that is supposed to bring life to the platform; the graphics are AWFUL.

Home doesn't do anything for me. I honestly don't understand the appeal of it.

Its just something totaly diffrent from live which is why im looking forward to it, and dont get me wrong i love live:)

I'll just be glad to have something to do on my PS3.. After 360 for over a year i find gaming on my own ( even online RFOM, MOTOSTORM that no one talks.) boring.. especially with no rumble!

erm i think you missed the point. Hardly anyone talks on anyPS3 online games - sony messed up not giving a free headset-. You might as well be on your own. I personally feel RFOM is the best online console shooter i have played. just a shame that it is full of mutes.

I have a bluetooth headset but i have issues with it working with any online game for the ps3 atm.

I just hope Sony bring out some sort of offical headset

So far I have only spoken to 2 people online in RFOM and they both say they were using some sort of USB headset and not even a Bluetooth one!

it is a bit annoying playing people without headsets after about a year on the 360 where most people speak online.

Home screenshots look nice, so far. The way they are doing it is very innovative for a console, the real test will be how many people use it and whcih games support it. At the moment all Games on 360 are "Live" compatible. Home will only succeed if a high number of games support it (ie for joining game lobbies sharing replays etc).

To elaborate on my 'bad graphics' post: Sony constantly says it has or will have the best graphics of any platform to date; even going as far as to say it will make 360 'last-gen'. Home is just proof that they are bull **** mongerers, it's from Sony themselves who know the hardware in and out - seeing as it's a middle-ground interface between players and gaming, you would have thought they'd at least try to make it look pretty. Instead it looks crap graphically, for example, the people models and the low textured background mountains. I'm pretty sure that even the stunted 7800 (RSX) in the PS3 can do better than that, but apparently not.

If Home's main point is that it's a 3d interactive interface (Sony is especially taking a stab at 360's menu-based systems everytime Home is mentioned), then sheesh make it look pretty, not some cheap Second Life knockoff.
