hi

i currently have a Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3P (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard however the northbridge heatsink is currently extremly hot when touched is there a better northbridge heatsink i could buy to replace it with? i currently have a zalman flower cpu cooler sat next to the heatsink so would have to be careful with size

I would have thought the Zalman style CPU heatsink would have provided some nice cool airflow onto the nortbridge?

Have you manually set the NB-Volts or is it on auto? I say this because sometimes the motherboard sets the North-Bridge volts way higher than it needs to be to run stably?

I'd get a noctua NC-U6 HERE or a Thermalright HR-05 chipset cooler. If you orientate it correctly you can fit it next to some big heatsinks.

Here's my NC-U6 on my old P965 DS3 (very hot northbridge using the stock cooler) as you can see it fits nicely next to thevery large Scythe Ninja:

Just stick a fan over it, depending on how ghetto you want it to look of course but all NB's get hot these days so I normally stick a fan on mine...

I either go for an 80mm on the NB & another over the Ram, or a 120mm further back to cool Ram & NB together.... Just a thought ;)
