northbridge and ds3 cooling

could i put an akasa 40mm on my ds3 northbridge? is it difficult to do? i have the 40mm fan here it has a heatsink and a thermal pad at the bottom(the peel type) would this be ok?

put a 40 mm fan on mine a few weeks ago,put it through a fan controller to lower noise.lapped the base,applied AS5
not worth the effort in my opinion
hardly lowered temps according to easytunes i am at 40oC atm
plenty of case airflow too

drilled the h/s and attached with only 2 screws on one side if that is of any help

ive just stuck the fan blowing cold air onto the northbridge.Its too much effort as you say to replace the whole heatsink. i think its lowered the temp about 2c. Looks good though.

43c for the system temperature, is that too high?

this chipset does run hot so no i reckon that is fine
