Northbridge Audio Stutter / Latency problems on high load

has anyone noticed audio stuttering / latency with an X58A-UD3R motherboard?

I think the northbridge heat might be a culprit. I've been on my comp all day and fired up my DAW (FL Studio) about half an hour ago.

10 minutes in I'm getting bad latency and audio stuttering, turned my PC off and left it for half an hour.

Turned back on and it seems fine.
 
Hi,

I have had this, look out for an antec spot cooler, direct it towards your north bridge, sorted mine for about a tender from here, same mobo spec as per sig.

How can it be installed ? I've seen pictures of a couple on the net but no explanations as to how they installed theirs.

edit - Oh I see... the arm or whatever you calls it keeps it suspended in the air? :)
 
I've got itunes / firefox / outlook and FL Studio playing one of my songs in the background and the CPU temps are 32 degrees, the NB however has been climbing from 40, now at 53.

I've got an H50 Cooler on my CPU so there's no air around the NB at all.
 
Same motherboard same problem. I removed the blue plate and stuck a heatsink fan on there and then it went away. MCH temp used to be 80+ and now its 55-60 tops

yeah it will work with the blue plate on but you might need to point it at an angle, Either from the top or side so that the air is hitting the heathsink behind the plate

Edit: Mobo was designed with the stock cooler in mind. The air from the side of the cooler would be blowing onto the heatsink.

Yup my case is a bit of a beast if I say so myself... I've only just realised it has 3 mounts at the top for three further fans so I might consider getting a fan pushing cold air down on top of the mobo as well.

I can already feel the 140mm working from underneath now I've turned it on. If I get no joy this way I'll definitely be investing in a spot cooler.
