I want to replace the stock heatsink and fan on my motherboard, but the graphics card covers part of it, so any fanless heatsink will come in the way :(

Same problem here on my Gigabyte and also my DFI. It affects any NF4 SLI motherboard. The Zalman with bent pins option was no good for me due to the cooler on my gfx card. But I found that removing that fan guard quietened it down a lot. Not perfect but at least it was better.

In the end I went with watercooling :)

I have a Dual Power Supply addon module card with my motherboard and thats also got a similar noisy fan on it... do you think it would be alright to replace that with a fanless northbridge heatsink (it is the same size etc).

I wouldn't go fanless with the Nforces, they run too hot. Use a passive heatsink but then use a large fan blowing directly through the fins. Something like a 8cm Akasa Amber. I wouldn't rely on natural air movement in the case, I've used a Nforce and the passive chipset is close to 90 degrees!
