Northbridge Fan

Hey Guys I'm thinking of mounting a 80mm fan to the bottom of my case to blow air onto the northbridge has anyone tried this and also how could i mount the fan ?

Why not get a 40mm fan and mount it to the north bridge?

On the bottom? You mean behind the motherboard? It's possible, not really useful but you can do it. If you mean on the bottom of the case where the feet are, that would totally screw up airflow. And if you mean on the side panel, also screw up airflow. If you want better NB temps then get this, an HR-05 or an N881.

Sorry i ment on the bottom inside the case so the fans standing up or will that still mess air flow up ?

well having looked into a chipset heatsink im stuck between a ZALMAN ZM-NB47J or Noctua NC-U6 lol

Not really, i can't imagine it would be much better than your stock one. Either get one of the one's i said before or the Noctua NC-U6.

On my old Socket A motherboard I mounted the fan from an old Radeon 9800 Pro over the northbridge.

Now however I've got an asus p5n-d which already had a heatsink and fan attached.

Muck airflow up, just get a massive passive one. They're not that expensive...
