Is it just me who constantly has problems with norton or doe other people have problems aswell?... I've constantly had an autoprotect issue, despite having numerous sessions with technitians (the free internet service) so i bit the bullet, and , as a tecnitian told me, uninstalled norton 360, and installed 360 v2... well last evening, after installing it i had 5 blue screens, and the pc was much slower on boot up.. so i've uninstalled that and gone back to the old one, and all seems to be ok... no blue screens, though as i'm typing this i keep expecting for it to blue screen :(

Ditched Norton years ago. Used Avast and AVG for free ones since then and currently with NOD32. There is no way in hell you'll get away with a Norton thread not having a NOD32 v Kaspersky/Pay for AV v free AV/* > Norton style to it. :D

Ditch Norton I'd say and try Avast or AVG if you want a free AV. Or NOD32 or Kaspersky if you are prepared to pay.

Seriously * > Norton. :P

Im running Norton 360 at the moment and although it hasn't gave me any grief yet Im thinking of switching to AVG, It gets rather good reviews.

There is three versions. Free Edition, AVG Anti-Virus, AVG Internet Security. The free edition should be more than enough to fend off those troublesom viruses. Maybe just stear clear of Japanese Porn Sites :)

S.T.F.U

out of the frying pan into the fire mate

use avast! or nod32, or nothing and be brave (like me)

i've heard good reviews about nod32.. well i'm only 6 months thru my subscription, and im setting up a pc downstairs, and even though i could put it on there for free, i'm switching, and when i do i'l scrap the norton on this pc, for something liek nod32 or mcaffe... does anybody have any experience with mcaffe?..

Used Norton 360 for a fair amount of time. It really is complete bloatware. It does indeed do a hell of a lot of tasks...the problem is that it doesn't do any of these particularly well! At the end of the day it's designed as a product for a low-maintenance family PC, which mine isn't, so there we go. Moreover, with a copy of Vista or XPSP2 installed, you need little more than virus protection. Plain and simple Norton Antivirus 2008 will do just fine. I'm using it at the moment and can't fault it.

Moi? :(

I'd say McAffee is nearly as bad as Norton. NOD32 or Kaspersky if you want to pay for one. Avast if you don't. :)

yeah , i'l download the 30 day trial and see whats what, and i'l buy the 2 system thing, and then see if i want to purchase 2 years

Norton is notorious for being difficult to remove- download the Norton Removal Tool, that might help you.

AVG is an excellent alternative, bloat free and cost free :)

Why pay for anti virus? the free ones are as good, if not better :confused:

i think i'l pay anyways, trust the software a bit more that way (tho i have used avg in the past) funnily enough the norton removal tool wont actually work, so i have to go into add/remove programs.. though in a few weeks i think i'm going to upgrade systems, and so will wipe the hard drive, and start fresh

Is there an error with the Norton Removal tool? Or does it just not remove everything? You could go and chase down all the files manually but you'd have to be sure you'd get them all. Waiting until you reformat would be a good plan. :)

I wouldn't touch Norton with a barge pole. I've fixed enough home PCs in my old job to know how awfully slow, bloated and generally flakey it is to never touch it again :D

NOD32 all the way.
