norton firewall issue

a friends norton firewall wont let him connect to windows live messenger so he has to use the rubbish version that comes with windows

WLM says that a firewall is blocking it
so he turned off the bit concerning wlm in norton
but it still says its blocking it

help please

Uninstall Norton, use windows firewall and AVG, NOD32, AntiVir or any one of the anti virus programs that are less bloated and intrusive.

As above. Norton seems to cause lots of problems like that; seen it so many times.

Either use Windows Firewall or get Commodo Firewall and get rid of Norton and use AVG/Avast/Anti-Vir.

Eset Security Suite (NOD32) is great and good value at £60 for 2 years. It anti virus, firewall and anti spyware.
