Ghost is perfect for this sort of thing.

As for your recovery to a newly installed OS, you can make a set of recovery CDs that you can boot off and restore from; like all the large OEMs do.

You will need to remember of you are doing regular backups, thats your images are going to get really quite big. For that sort of backig up I would suggest a program taht cn do incremental and differential backups, liek Windows backup.

When I got my lap-top "Out of the Box" from Multi Vision (now out of business) there was loads of stuff in the Temp Files, Cookies, IE Cache etc, (presumably from installing the modem and other drivers).

Multi Vision put a restore system on the hard drive, Drive C and the remainder of the programs on Drive D (My Drive D is everyone elses C). I've only once restored it to its "Out of the Box" state. When I did it after a few well minded warnings it showed a screen "Norton Ghost" and it worked a treat. The only thing of course, all the stuff in Temp, Cookies etc was back on the computer and I had to remove them again.

You will not have that problem, if you get rid of the junk before installing Ghost!
