Hi, I have just built a new computer, using the following moterboard from Giga-byte.

GA-8N-SLI Pro

Using :-

* Nvidia SATA 2
* Nvidia SLI chipset

What I am trying to do, is make a boot disk so I can make a full clone of my system using Norton Ghost, but I having problems with regards to loading the necessary drivers.

Is the prolem, that norton ghost does not support this type of new hardware yet. If so, Is their any similar software for making clones which will meet me needs.

Regards

Robert

If you're using the DOS version of Ghost - i.e. you boot from a floppy disk to get into ghost, you can experience an issue where Ghost will freeze/lock up on you when trying to detect the sata hard disk(s). To fix this, you can either edit the autoexec.bat file on the ghost floppy disk so that the command to load ghost - usually a:\ghost\ghost.exe so that it reads a:\ghost\ghost.exe -FNI or (my preferred method) delete the command to load ghost from the autoexec.bat completely & load ghost manually via:

cd ghost
ghost.exe -FNI

Basically the -FNI switch tells ghost to use a different method to detect the hard disks on the system, which I have managed to get to work on my client's computers with NForce4 chipset, SATA 2 Hard Disk & Ghost 9.

Hope that helps!

You could just get Acronis True Image instead. It creates a recovery disk based specially on your machine and its hardware. People kept trying to get me to convert and eventually I did, just too late. It's the dogs danglers as far as recovery software goes.
