Hi all i`ve just brought a copy of norton ghost, its not been delivered as yet so my question is can i copy my OS as it is now onto a new harddrive?
I`ve never used this program before so any help would be great thanks all :)

you can, but only if the destination hard drive is bigger than your current windows partition/drive

acronis can do it to any sized hard drive (as long as the ammount of data on the drive will fit!)

did testing over last week

acronis is a LOT better than ghost (was using acronis 9.0 and ghost 9.0 (10 is out now))

personally, i'd send it back and buy acronis instead -there's links in this forum for verions 7 for free too btw..

Is this a new "feature" then?

Ghost can copy a drive/partition to a smaller drive/partition unless the size of the data is too large.

oh right, i only did a bit of testing, couldn't get it to do that from the windows gui section -copy drive only works to larger drives

Ah, I never use the GUI. Did mine this morning from DOS. Imaged a 200Gb drive to a 40Gb both ways, several times, using both partition and drive imaging. No probs.
