hi

just bought a copy of norton ghost and the last time I used it was about 5 years ago before it worked in windows

the latest version does an image of the drive inside windows

is this the best way to be doing it, or the only way or even a safe way

cheers

I used to use Ghost and really liked it but it wasn't Vista compatible. I was a big fan of Acronis True Image until I tried to recover the other day and it said my backup files were corrupt or not valid. I can extract files but can't restore the entire drive.

I'm now looking for something else.

Do you use that? Is it good enough for the task in hand?

I'm looking to clone my C:\ onto a back up volume and just restore it from time to time....

Have you tried any of the other free ones? :)

Well to be quite honest, i've never used it in a crisis situation, so i wouldn't actually know, nor (touch wood ;)) do i want to know ;) But it backs up great it has some kind of XML header, so there is no reason why it isn't universally compatible :) I backup my root partition from time to time with it does the job!
