bought his from OCuk in May it has been on my computer only, i have changed hardware and fromatted the computer many times, put 2 320 gb hard drives in last night, put Norton on, it said it could not be activated as it had exceeded the the amount of times it could be activated. Ive got 150 days left, so im ****** off.
contacted them and they gave this response. I assure you it has only ever been on mine

Thank you for your response, we appreciate the opportunity to assist you. I have searched your database and was able to locate that you have exceeded the installations of the Norton product.

Please note that Symantec’s End User Licensing Agreement (EULA) states that Norton products may only be used on one computer at a time. Our records indicate that your software has been activated on more computers than is permitted. Since you have exceeded the allowed number of installations for your Norton AntiVirus 2006, you will not be able to use the program again.

As the current owner of a Symantec product, you do have the option of purchasing an additional copy at the reduced upgrade price.

I assure you it has only ever been on mine
suggestions???

As in, using the routers hardware firewall I'd imagine.

Though, I'd probably use a software one as well.

routers have very strong firewalls built into them, there is no need for any firewall software if you have a router in place as the router does all the blocking work for you.

i use common sense as my antivirus/spyware but if you feel that isnt good enough then avg, etc is a nice light peice of software.

norton is a complete rip off. if you buy it online you only have a certain number of days to download it. To make it available to download for a year costs around £4 :o

Agree. It's Norton, what else do you expect?
For them to abide by the agreement too?

I hate Norton as much as the next guy, but that's not the issue here.

Unless he's reinstalled it like 20 times over the course of a year, then I don't see how Symantec has anything to fall back on, unless it says specifically in the EULA that you can only reinstall the product X number of times.

the only decent thing to come from symantec in the past few years is this tool..

its for removing all norton/symantec products

use nod32, and perhaps defender (but turn off file-scanning, and schedule weekly scans instead)
Couldn't agree with you more! I have used that tool so many times to remove nasty norton off my customers machines
