I didn't pay attention to some program I installed and it also installed a free thing called "Norton Security Scan". So I uninstalled it from add/remove programs, it appeared to uninstall normally, logos and folders removed and no longer appeared in the program list. But every time I reboot it magically reappears on the PC, the icon appears on the desktop and it reappears in add/remove programs. It's like a ****ing virus. How do I get rid of it?

the only way to truly be free from Norton products is.........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................format!!!!..................................................................................................................................................................and then format again!

But i've known a few people who have bought a new PC just to be 100% sure :D

That didn't work, it still reappeared after the reboot.

I can't remember what program it was but there was a checkbox during installation that asked if you wanted to install it, like Yahoo toolbar or whatever, I forgot to uncheck it.

I agree with photoshop..

if someone put a Norton box within 3 feet of my rig, I'd format and reinstall.

Try the Norton Removal Tool, available on the Symantec website. The very fact that such a tool is often required to properly remove Norton products from a PC is ridiculous.
