NoScript users may want to look here...

Who cares? It's just a few geeks arguing with each other and the end result doesn't really have any negative effect on anyone.

Personally I don't use either program because the Internet is not free.

Who cares, indeed.

I'll still use it, but if it really is that bad, then I can disable it easily however.

That is bad of the NoScript guys.

Then again, I don't use NoScript because I don't want to cripple the functionality of every new website I visit because a minuscule proportion of sites are out to get me. Silly paranoia if you ask me. It annoys me how the extension suggests that enabling JS globally is "dangerous!" It massively exaggerates the threat. How many people have ever actually suffered at the hands of rogue JavaScript?

People should care that's what.

If the author is adding sticky whitelists for their own benefit in another extension's subscriptions (adblock plus) then this is a bad thing, if they're doing that for ad money what could they do for other benefits from another source?

For a security extension I feel NoScript no longer provides a level of security after reading this and I don't feel confident that it is completely secure.

I'll continue to wildcard new sites in ABP and keep the EasyList subs going to give me the protection I've had prior to using NoScript and in the process enjoy not having to right click noscript and allow scripts to run for every 3rd legitimate new page I visit.

And I thought the open source community were a paragon of virtue compared to the evil closed source profiteers...

On a more serious note, this sort of behaviour is unacceptable whoever does it, I hope it costs them lots of users, and therefore income, if they think it's appropriate to interfere in the working of another program for no valid reason, just as it's been wrong when apple, real et al have done the same thing.

I completely agree with you. There are some nice things being done with the likes of jquery and mootools.

It would be like having access to SKY HD but setting your TV to only show black and white or something.
