I have a raid hdd that used to be the main drive on another computer.(OS was on it). How i am using it to hold data. I want to delete off a lot of stuff on it thats not needed, like programs that were installed when it was the main drive of another computer.

But it wont allow me to do this. Also the defrag prog seemed to hang while trying to defrag this drive.

I have world of warcraft and CSS installed on this drive and i can play them fine (although WOW has begun to be slow, hence why i tried to defrag) so the drive itself seems ok.

Is there away so force some of these files/folders off the drive. They are just wasting space.

Thanks for your tips in solving this problem :)

You need to set permissions on the drive so you can access the files and folders fully.

If you are running XP Pro then right click the folder and goto properties and then the Permissions tab and have a look at the options there.

If you are running XP Home the you will need to reboot into safe mode and log in as Administrator before you will have the permissions options under properties.

But i would agree with some points the others have made and would sugest a full format of the drive just to make things all nice and fresh.
