Today i was christmas shopping in town looking for some decent presents. Anyhow, i remembered i had to go a get a "cheap" guitar book for a first time beginner (a friend's just starting out). Looked into a couple of music shops but they were all quite expensive (ie £15.99) so i went to a more local music shop on my way back.

As you do, looked at the guitars but nothing caught my eye. However, i saw an Epiphone Les Paul on the wall advertised for £130. My fist impressions were like "it'll be some cheap tat from like South Korea or something", but i asked about it anyway because i've always prefered the playing style of the LP, and it was in cherry sunburst which has always been my favourite colour. :)

He said i could play it if i wanted to, so i agreed. However, my jaw dropped after i started playing it. It sounded and played really nice, and i thought to myself, "why is it for sale at £130?". He said he was getting a whole load of new new guitars in the next few days he needed the space, so he was offering it at such a low price this week.

The guitar has had new strings, a setup and is in very good condition. Only part missing was the scratch-plate, but they are only a few quid if that to buy anyway.

So happy i went shopping this week and not last!

nice bargain mate :)

not a fan of those bursts, but give me a nice tobacco burst and i'll be away :D
shame the only tobacco burst i can find is the slash signature one that costs the best part of £2k

Nice find mate, how much would that normally cost new/second hand? In the market for a new guitar myself over christmas

New: Anywhere from £300 to a max of about £450 (usually the custom ones)

Used: About £240-£260 usually i think. Can more or less dependant on features and quality. Lowest i've seen second hand was about £190, but the bay probabily has some cheaper than that. ;)
