Thought I'd pop in to Motors and say hi since I've not been on in a while. DC5 is finally gone and I have a UK spec DC2 in its place. It's noisy, it's plasticy, it breaks my balls, I groan getting in and out of it and it makes more noise than a motel bed being used in full action, but I love it to bits. The way the car feels on the road is sublime, like nothing I've ever driven. And old skool VTEC is brutal and insane compared to the K series.

I had an Accord R as well, but I didn't get on with the silly long gearing so flogged it for a couple of hundred more than I paid for it. Great on the motorway though, unlike this.

Driving the DC2 is like driving an angry wasp.

exactly why i didnt go for the '5

it simply didnt compare.

I've owned both, and I'd have another DC5 without thinking. Two different cars, apart from the FWD and high power aspect. The DC2 is the hooligan, it feels a bit of a child, the DC5 is more grown up and better built, but as a drivers cars, loses a little bit of magic. Depends what you want from the car I guess.

exactly, id only consider one if it were my only car. just felt a bit 'meh' after trying them out.

rust torn into it much yet then?

How much are the arches going to cost? I'm revaluating my current car and hot hatches are in. Think I'm going to have to scratch the teg itch :o

Loking around, is the RX version worth it?

It's only the UKDMs that are affected, the JDMs don't have the rubber strip which was added by Honda to UKDMs to reduce the chance of rust; ironically it just increases the chances.

I don't know how much they will cost till the interior is stripped out and they can have a proper look at it. I expect £600 ish.

Rx's are expensive, for the price of one, you can get a newer DC5. However, if you're set on a DC2 and you want to spend that amount of money on an 11 year old car, then it's probably the best choice.

HELL YE !!

Lovely looking rover 25.

Similar price to my arch repair. I'll be down there sometime soon aswell getting my front bumper seen to.

Have the bushes and dampers been overhauled or upgraded as if not you NEED to get saving for these! Might finally finish updating my build thread, now I'm unemployed, maybe even do more work.

Enjoy her!

No, but I'll probably sell it in the summer and buy one with less miles.

Imo there's no point. All cars of this age will need them doing, 12yr old rubber will be brittle and perishing. Or better yet get one that has had it done in the past few years.

Why on earth sell her after splashing out on the arches, doesn't make sense. Get the rust treated, suspension overhauled and then just enjoy the experience much more!

Because I want one with less mileage. I'm having the arches done, and while they're being done I'm having the rear bumper sorted as some inconsiderate prat decided to park his car on the bumper/arch and not bother leaving a note. I will struggle to sell it for anything decent till the work is done.

go JDM. Honestly my 13/14 year old is currently stripped out at the moment and there is nothing. nada.

RX is just the 98 spec with few fancy chrome/carbon bits, have the brochure kicking around if you want it.

id honestly avoid the UKDM unless you know these areas have been treated.

DC5 is faster round a track, so DC2 must just *feel* faster due to less refinement?

I love DC2's, my brother had one, and I had an EK9, but I think I want a DC5 next:o
