Not booting from CD???

I'm trying to reformat my HDD as I've got a corrupt file or two on Windows that can't be repaired. I've set in the bios for the computer to boot from cd rom but it still keeps booting from the hard drive. If I follow the prompts on screen as it starts up it says F12 for boot priority - when I go in there the whole thing freezes and I can't change anything anyway!...any ideas please?

I assume you have a bootable CD in the drive and the cd-drive is before the HDD in the boot priority ?

If its's an Intel chipset try changing from AHCI to IDE in the BIOS.
